I worked on the building years ago for Furniture City. I have not visited there in years. Since our recent visit They have really done a nice job inside. If you're looking for food, antiques, or need a hall for events, Kilburn might be the place to visit.
Had an amazing experience at Yoga Es Vida! It brought such a different energy through my mind and body that other yoga studios haven't. My children also attend the kids yoga session on Sundays and not only is a sunday break for parents but also a break for kids to ease their energy and refocus on their mentality 👍 10/10 …
Phenomenal event "Tastes of the Panorama" featuring the "Grand Panorama of a Whaling Voyage Round the World"... The longest painting in America at 1, 275 feet long.
Painted in 1848 by Caleb Purring ton and Benjamin Russell, and shows a Whaling Voyage around the world that leaves New Bedford, MA.
A Whaling Voyage like this would take 3-4 years (1841-1844) and the cargo worth would be around $72,000 when it finally arrived at its home port. In today's dollars that would be around $2,420,000.
Event hosted by the New Bedford Whaling Museum on August 23rd, 2018.
Extraordinary venue for this event and exhibit!
Delicious food... Raw Bar (Cuttyhunk Shellfish) , Poke Bowls (Taste of Aloha of Polynesia), Portuguese fares (Inner Bay Cafe and Grill), and excellent food from Brazilian Grill.
Whaling Museum exhibit "A Spectacle in Motion: The Grand Panorama of a Voyage 'Round the Wold.'" America's longest painting vividly captures a 19th century around the world whaling voyage starting in New Bedford. See it while you can. This is a historical treasure.
So this review is based on 2 places I've found in the Killburn Mill. "SolshineYoga" & "Utopias Path Apothecary & Tea Shoppe." Both places r owned by 2 different yet amzing women who r truly beautiful souls. Both r reiki masters who r genuinely skilled in their craft. "Solshine Yoga" is where i go to get my body feelin energized & "Utopia" is where i go for my hand carved crystals & organic herbs, for both my teas & spells to get my spirit feeling fulfillment. Ruth at Utopia knows her stuff unlike some other vendors & "trendors" u can tell wellness & knowledge is her thing. What sets both these places apart from other merchants in the same building is their credentials & knowledge. These girls r no bs & sum of the realest spiritualists Ive come across in a longggggg time. Diamonds in the rough!!!!
Enjoyed live music by Cadence and Co at the Kilburn Mill. Nice venue with great view of the water and sunset, good acoustics, large dance floor, good pulled-pork nachos.
Wonderful establishment: great galleries , studios ,shops , art classes , dance classes and so on! Lots of additional potential.
Note: New Bedford's peninsula & southern coast is beautiful but its environment is under constant threat from human impact.
Keep Massachussetts beaches & coastal waters clean.
DO NOT LITTER! Do not be ignorant & clean up after yourself. Contribute.
Protecting the ocean and its environment is everyone's responsibility .
Be that change and progress the world around you so desperately needs.
We went on a Sunday and most of the places were closed even when they had open times on the door. Cute book and plant stores.
